A wealthy Ossetian prince adopts a foundling and raises her like his own daughter. The little Fatima grows up and falls in love with her stepbrother, Dzhambulat. After Dzhambulat goes to war and disappears, Fatima goes against her father's wishes and decides to marry a poor laborer.
