Sidney Kombo-Kintombo is an Animation Supervisor at Wētā FX. Trained in drawing at the Émile Cohl Art Academy in France, Sidney began his career directing television shows before transitioning into 3D animation. He went on to work at ILM and Framestore, contributing as a Senior Animator on Alfonso Cuarón's Oscar-winning Gravity (2013). Sidney joined Wētā FX as a Senior Animator on The Jungle Book (2016) and was quickly promoted to Animation Supervisor on War for the Planet of the Apes (2017). His work shaping the emotional complexity of the character Koba earned him another Annie Award nomination. Sidney served as Lead Animation Supervisor at Wētā FX on the Oscar-nominated Avengers: Endgame (2019), where he led the animation for the film's epic final battle, the character of Thanos, and the iconic Women of Marvel sequence—earning an Annie Award for his work. He was also an Animation Supervisor at Wētā FX on Avengers: Infinity War (2018), where his contributions to Thanos's expressive facial animation and the high-stakes third-act battle scenes were recognised with a VES Award for Outstanding Character Animation. Beyond his work in feature film, Sidney is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of talent. He is currently developing a digital animation education program designed to empower young Africans to master the craft and tell their own stories on a global stage.
