STELLA is a single trendy careerist with a good fashion sense. She loves shopping and is a good friend of MEI-KEI. STELLA’s brother SHEUNG-SHING is a taxi driver. STELLA is one of his regular passengers and fares are paid in one go on a monthly basis. STELLA and her sister-in-law LAI-NGO work in the same interior design company. Like STELLA, NGO is an environmentalist who would seek every opportunity to remind her colleagues of the importance of environmental protection. STELLA comes back home to dine with her father CHEUNG-FAT, which gives him a great thrill. STELLA’s younger sister MOON-LAM and her husband KWOK-WAI have bought FAT a massage chair. They need NGO, SHING and STELLA to share the cost, which irks their brother and sister-in-law so much that the two couples are drawn into a quarrel. STELLA has got a big client but the contractor she closely works with will not be available for the project.… ...

SING keeps pestering STELLA for the design plans, which irks STELLA no end. SING passes a dinner coupon to FAT hoping that he can have a nice gathering with his family. But things do not go the way they expected and the dinner turns out to be a bit of a disaster. SING’s assistant PLANE BOY has used the wrong tiles and tries to shift the blame onto SING’s younger brother KA-PO. SING brings PO to a pub hoping that he will meet and make more friends. KEI introduces PAUL, the chief editor of an interior design magazine, to STELLA. To everyone’s surprise, SHAN turns up suddenly and manages to outshine STELLA with her stunning sexy body. NGO’s son did not do well in his test and is too afraid to go home. LAM puts a forged signature on the boy’s test paper but gets discovered by NGO later on. NGO is so angry that she decides to call the police. SHAN tries to enlist the help of SING in her fight against STELLA, but is rejected.… ...

STELLA blames SHAN for obstructing her plan and turns to her supervisor TAK-KIN for help. She insists on calling the police and KIN has to do his best to calm her down. SING suspects that PLANE BOY may have something to do with the incident. FAT returns to his vegetable patch for the clearance of rubbish. The cleaner asks for extra charges, leaving FAT in a bit of a predicament. Luckily SHUK-KUEN passes by and quickly leaps to his defense. It is not until this moment that FAT comes to realize that KUEN is in fact the mother of SING. LAM and WAI bought an apartment years ago with a loan from FAT as the down payment. The property has slipped into negative equity since the Asian Financial Turmoil but the couple would like to hold it and wait for the price to go up again. They tell FAT that they have sold the property but as a matter of fact, they have been renting it out and enjoying steady rental income.… ...

The football team which SHING has wagered on has lost the match. WAI has secretly put a wager on the opposing team and therefore manages to win the money back. STELLA is a picky designer and SING has been trying to accommodate himself to her needs. PO learns from the Web that YUE is going to hold a street demonstration. He plans to go to the site where the demonstration is to take place so that he can return the video camera to YUE. In the confusion, both YUE and PO have fallen into the sea. YUE is so agile that she manages to save PO soon afterwards. NGO discovers that the jewelry stored at home have all been lost. Noticing that SHING has been working really hard lately, NGO begins to wonder whether he has been cheating on her. Filled with guilt and shame, SHING reveals the truth that he is being in debt. LAM suddenly apologizes to NGO.… ...

STELLA points out to KIN that she is being framed by someone. But KIN does not address her complaint and even asks KEI to take over her duties. SING is shocked to read the negative comments against PO on the Internet. He suggests PO should go and have a word with YUE. YUE holds a demonstration outside YIU’s office building. She gets stopped by WAI but SING manages to save her from the predicament. Knowing that she has misunderstood PO, YUE offers to apologize to him. She asks PO to volunteer for her environmental protection group and PO agrees to her request at once. SHAN’s design appears on the front-cover of the magazine, to which STELLA does not show much response. NGO is shocked to discover that LAM and WAI have been keeping and renting out a property. Filled with anger, she is planning to reveal the truth to FAT but is stopped by SHING immediately.… ...

STELLA has suddenly collapsed in the street. SING sends her to a clinic immediately and she is later diagnosed with severe allergic asthma. LAM and NGO pick a quarrel again. FAT is so annoyed that he decides to move to his vegetable garden. FAT offers HEI some advice on pest control, which irks him a bit nevertheless. PO goes to volunteer for YUE’s environmental protection group while PLANE BOY manages to attract media attention for the campaign organized by YUE and her friends. YUE and her friends have gathered outside YIU’s office building. YIU needs WAI to drive the crowd away as soon as he has returned to the office building. SING tries to stop WAI and YIU reveals that YUE is in fact his biological sister. YIU’s girlfriend CHI-CHING decides to stay in Hong Kong and set up a pet shop of her own.… ...

KIN announces STELLA’s promotion to Project Designer, which infuriates KEI and SHAN in a tremendous way. SING is clueless as to why KIN ends up deciding to promote STELLA. STELLA reveals that she has discovered the affair between KIN and KEI and that she has tried to threaten KIN with a set of photos. The school inside the rural village will soon be demolished and HEI is bound to face unemployment. CHING would like SING to take charge of the renovation of her new home, to which SING does not raise any objection. A girl comes to flirt with YIU when he goes on a date with CHING. Luckily WAI passes by and offers to save YIU from the embarrassment. The developer has withdrawn the acquisition plan and this has come as a great disappointment to LAM and WAI. STELLA offers to undertake the design work involved in the renovation of YIU’s shopping mall.… ...

STELLA is discharged from hospital but is shocked to find that KIN has taken over her duties. KIN reveals that his wife is already aware of his adulterous relationship with KEI and has asked for a divorce. With no more secrets to hide, KIN is no longer worried about being threatened by STELLA. FAT starts to grow vegetables on his farmland. SING suggests HEI go and put his plants in FAT’s garden, but the idea is rejected straight away. By stratagem, SING finally manages to make HEI give in. Desperate to help SHING clear his debts, NGO offers to work part-time as a cleaner, which embarrasses SHING deeply in front of his mates. KIN and KEI submit a brand new design plan to YIU but YIU insists on using the one prepared by STELLA. YIU goes on a date with STELLA, during which STELLA has a sudden attack of asthma. They get spotted by STELLA’s colleagues and the rumor quickly circulates around the office.… ...

STELLA goes to put up at FAT’s farmland but finds it very difficult to adapt to the village life there. HEI sneaks into FAT’s house to get some tools but is discovered by STELLA. STELLA mistakes HEI for a thief and beats him up severely. PO and YUE would like to transport the furniture left by the closing school to the rural areas of mainland China. But to their great disappointment, no one is willing to take the furniture, which upsets YUE immensely. Fearing that SING will get seduced by STELLA sooner or later, KUEN and HEI have been trying to keep the pair apart from each other, to which STELLA is not too sure how to react. In order to make more money, SHING offers to be the designated driver for LAM’s boss, GRACE. YUE has been living in a mess since her last failure but SING finally manages to make her pull herself together. YUE realizes that she has gradually developed a special feeling for SING.… ...

FAT puts up at SING’s home for a night. When he returns home, he is surprised to see that STELLA has finished all the housework. STELLA even offers to cut his fingernails for him, which gives him a strong feeling of warmth and love. STELLA has dropped her mobile phone, which is later picked up by a villager. STELLA accuses the villager of theft, making the whole village very unhappy. GRACE gets annoying by her ex-husband. To get out of the predicament as soon as possible, GRACE claims that she has been going out with SHING. GRACE tries to approach SHING but SHING, as a married man, is careful not to mess around with the lady and rejects her immediately. GRACE is not going to give up on SHING and finally manages to have sex with him. YUE falls even more in love with SING while PO is misled into thinking that he himself is the one she fancies. PO discovers that YUE has saved some video snippets of SING.… ...

STELLA and SING go up to the hilltop to look for FAT. STELLA feels guilty for making FAT angry and shouting at the villagers. SING tells STELLA about his notorious past and urges her to cherish her family. The villagers have finally managed to locate FAT. STELLA plucks up her courage to say sorry to the villagers and the villagers are all glad to accept her apology. PO points out to SING that YUE has fallen for him for quite a while. SING is going to reject YUE but PO is worried that it would hurt her feelings too much. NGO spots SHING and GRACE together. Luckily LAM comes along just in time and manages to hide the secret between SHING and GRACE. GRACE is grateful to LAM for her help and offers to co-run a beauty shop with her. YUE is about to express her love for SING. To turn her down, SING means to flirt with STELLA in front of her. STELLA is not aware that SING is only acting.… ...

CHING is sad to find out that YIU has been going out with a string of girlfriends. She is so unhappy that she goes to confide in SING. STELLA asks SING if he is going to get back with CHING but SING does not give her a definite answer. A villager called LAN misses her late husband so much and refuses to eat and drink. Not wanting her to suffer like this, STELLA and SING try every possible means to cheer her up and finally manage to help her get over the trauma. GRACE tries to satisfy SHING with money and material things, thus luring him deeper and deeper in the relationship. GRACE comes to visit NGO suddenly and offers to give her a beauty treatment, which really shocks SHING to the core. STELLA would like to match YUE up with PO. YUE is however misled into thinking that there may be some problem between STELLA and SING. She advises STELLA to test him out and see if he is fond of her.… ...

FAT and SIN pick a quarrel again but are stopped by STELLA. FAT points out that he will try to put up with SIN so that STELLA and SING can stay together without much pressure. YIU says sorry to CHING but CHING refuses to accept his apology. Knowing that CHING is back in Hong Kong, SIN and KUEN immediately invite her to dinner at home. SING and STELLA try to act before his parents. STELLA blames SING for cheating on her and asks for a break-up. She even gives him a slap before she walks off. SING sends CHING back to her apartment. CHING points out to SING that she knows he and STELLA are only acting. SING is thrilled to bits when he hears that CHING is going to split up with YIU. CHING asks YIU out for a chat. She is going to ask for a break-up but is tempted to change her mind when YIU takes her to see his father. YUE lapses into unconsciousness suddenly and is sent to hospital straight away.… ...

NGO is furious to learn that SHING has spent a night at GRACE’s home. With the help of YUE, the organic vegetables grown by FAT can finally be put on sale in the market. Believing that YUE is suffering from a fatal disease, PO tries his best to look for a long-lost friend of hers who is called MAN. FAT and SIN are determined to catch the culprit after a series of thefts have taken place inside the village. They follow the suspect to a hut, inside of which they find a woman from mainland China called YIU HUNG. FAT and SIN are injured in the course of investigating the thefts but the two of them have finally made up with each other and become friends. HUNG is in fact a friend of WING. She has been abandoned by her husband and is struggling to live with her baby son with the assistance of WING. HUNG seems to get on well with SIN, which irks KUEN a bit. KUEN means to cause HUNG trouble and HUNG is not afraid to seek revenge.… ...

STELLA gets a bit upset noticing how SING beat YIU up only for the sake of CHING. Wanting to find out if SING would protect her in the way he did with CHING, STELLA means to provoke a ruffian. But to her great disappointment, SING does not jump to her defense and even urges her to apologize to the man. STELLA reveals to CHING that SING has got into a fight with YIU for her sake and why he had to beat her and get her off years ago. CHING is shocked to learn the truth. CHING asks YIU about his fight with SING but YIU tries to distract her by proposing to her. She is completely stunned by YIU’s proposal. PO manages to locate the former workers of TONG’s factory. Many of them are suffering from serious diseases. MAN’s father would like to claim compensation on behalf of the workers but the workers say that they have received $50,000 each in compensation for their physical injuries.… ...

STELLA gets so disappointed when SING admits that he is still in love with CHING. CHING rejects YIU’s proposal, which irks YIU no end. Filled with anger and jealousy, YIU accuses CHING of having an affair with SING. SIN and KUEN encourage PO to express his love for YUE. PO reveals to his parents that YUE is suffering from a serious disease, which shocks the couple to the core. STELLA is full of mixed feelings after watching back the video clip of herself making a declaration of love to SING when she was drunk. SING happens to catch a glimpse of the video clip and feels extremely embarrassed. STELLA would like to go back to her former company to seek a career breakthrough, which is supported by SING. STELLA is however very disappointed by SING’s response. The villagers hold a farewell party for STELLA. SING comes along just in time to give STELLA a farewell present, which is her all-time favorite snack.… ...

HUNG offers FAT massage services at his home and is mistaken for a prostitute by the villagers. This has embarrassed FAT no end. STELLA starts working at her former company. Not wanting to be picked on by STELLA, KEI decides to offer her resignation. To her great surprise, STELLA not only asks KEI to stay but also regards her as a friend as she always does. GRACE is discharged from hospital to recuperate at home. SHING would like to resume his work but is stopped by GRACE. He is pushed down the stairs by GRACE and injures his legs subsequently. During his recuperation, SHING happens to discover that it was GRACE who pushed him down the stairs. Filled with fear and anger, SHING tries to get out of the apartment but is drugged into unconsciousness. YIU has become the big boss of STELLA’s company through share acquisition. Because of his special status in the company, SHAN is soon promoted to a higher rank.… ...

1st August 2007

Episode 18

NGO and LAM go to find SHING at GRACE’s apartment. They are shocked to discover that SHING is being locked up by GRACE like a caged animal. GRACE actually has some mental problems and is especially fond of married men. SHING is glad to be home but his happiness soon turns to disappointment when NGO conveys her resolution to get a divorce. The villagers find out that HUNG has not only bad-mouthed FAT but also keeps borrowing money from others. It is not until this point that they come to realize they have been conned. SIN, KUEN and PO give all of their savings to SING and urge him to get a good lawyer. SING is grateful to them but refuses to take the money. CHING would like to postpone the opening of her new shop so that she can lend her money to SING. SING is however resolved not to use her money no matter what. YIU comes to the grand opening of CHING’s new shop, during which he reveals that it was he who framed SING.… ...

WING is arrested for the illegal transportation of controlled waste. He reveals that WAI is the real culprit behind the scenes. STELLA tries to persuade TAK to speak the truth so that SING can prove his innocence. SING, however, stops her from approaching TAK. SHING apologizes to NGO but NGO refuses to forgive him. YIU needs WAI’s help in convincing FAT to sell his farmland. WAI lies to FAT saying that LAM has become pregnant. The developer has sent someone to damage FAT’s farmland but the culprit ends up being caught by FAT and the villagers. WAI gets annoying by the loan shark. Left with no way out, WAI attempts to steal money from LAM’s shop. The couple have a terrible quarrel and fall down the stairs in the confusion. LAM starts bleeding and is sent to hospital at once. WAI is astonished to hear that LAM is really pregnant. LAM refuses to see WAI, following which WAI reveals that he has already turned himself in.… ...

WAI and WING are both put on probation, which comes as a great relief for everyone. NGO poses herself as a new taxi driver and has a nice chat with SHING on her walkie-talkie. Knowing that SHING has really changed his ways, NGO is finally willing to forgive him. She has even managed to get a taxi license as a token of support for her husband. STELLA learns from the villagers that the tangerine at the very top of the tree will serve as a lucky charm for those who are embroiled in lawsuits. Hoping to help SING, STELLA gets up to the tree top trying to get the lucky tangerine. SING is so grateful to her for her thoughtfulness. TAK decides to turn himself in and SING can finally prove his innocence. SING and STELLA draft a proposal for the development of the farmland and submit it to the chairman of the developer company Mr. LUI. Mr. LUI comes to the farmland for a visit and reveals his plan to preserve the vegetable patch.… ...
