The sole surviving human and her canine companion, Haru, wander a desolate wasteland after the destruction of civilization, but this is no dark doomsday tale. Haru, a wise-beyond-his-years talking shiba inu, makes sure his master stays one step ahead of post-apocalyptic pessimism with his clever antics, hilarious observations and philosophical ponderings. She may be the last girl on earth, but with Haru at her side, the road through the apocalypse will never be boring!
Episode 1
Haru compares Master's lone existence in a post-apocalyptic world to Schrödinger's Cat. / Master wonders if she can truly be happy. / The pair spot a black Shiba-Inu in the wild that asks Haru why he still allows himself to be leashed.
Episode 2
Master is lost until Haru notes the faux US architecture of what used to be the island of Odaiba. / Before the end of the world, a young Master asks a young Haru whether or not humans can change. Years later, she asks him the same question. / Master tries (and fails) to figure out which direction to go, resulting in a lot of walking.
Episode 3
Master asks Haru what a dolphin is trying to say. / Master has a breakdown because she just wants to watch videos of cats on the internet. / Master wonders if she should feel guilty spending every day doing nothing important.
Episode 4
While lost inside a huge forest, Haru wants to know why Master is so interested in cats. / After being lost in the woods for three days, Master tries to meditate to relieve her stress. / Shirayuki tries to confide in Haru, but Master gets in the way.
Episode 5
Master dreams of oversleeping for school and Haru thinks she's having a nightmare. / Master toys with Haru's feelings, so he tries to get her back. / Two other dogs are following Haru & Master. She decides to make all three of them compete to be her traveling companion.
Episode 6
Haru explains the virtues of non-conformity and Master begins to think it's actually an underhanded remark aimed at her. / Master falls into a lake and drowns. As Haru panics, a goddess emerges from the lake carrying Master's body and asks Haru if the human is pure of heart. / Haru sees a turtle being attacked by a crow and gets into a philosophical debate with Master over the meaning of the Urashima Taro folktale.
Episode 7
Haru explains to Master that everything is constantly changing, Master pretends to understand. / An owl appears calling himself The Devil. He makes Master an offer for her soul, but Master and Haru get lost in their own conversation. / Master asks Haru if he suddenly remembers embarrassing moments from the past.
Episode 8
Haru asks Master if she would like to go back to the way things were before the end of the world. / Haru starts talking in his sleep, and Master is very disturbed by what he is saying. / Master and Haru find a little girl who ate the flesh of a mermaid long ago and became immortal.
Episode 9
Haru has difficulty trying to explain to Master why he suddenly stopped playing fetch with her. / Master delights in stealing the fish caught by a hungry bear. Haru fears what will happen to them when it finally catches on. / Haru explains to Shirayuki his attachment to Master with great detail while simultaneously failing to notice her fondness of him.
Episode 10
Haru is kidnapped and replaced by a gang of raccoons. / Haru breaks free, but Master fails to recognize the difference between him and the raccoon. / The raccoons continue to mimic Haru's appearance to Master's amusement.
Episode 11
The gang of raccoons find a crane stuck in a trap and decide to work together to free it. Haru discusses the origin of Raccoon Udon with Master. / The raccoons continue to poke fun at Haru by painting him to look like one of them. / Master feels unexpected romantic tension when she encounters a kind-hearted gorilla.
Episode 12
Master and Haru find Roswellian aliens making crop circles. / The aliens invite Master and Haru into their home for dinner. / The aliens insist Master and Haru spend the night, but they worry their lives might be in danger.
Episode 13
Master and Haru are walking circles around the forest. Master blames the fox spirit of the shrine they keep passing. / The fox spirit tries to help Master find a way out of the forest, but has difficulty gaining Master's trust. / Master asks Haru to answer the age-old question of why animals appear to stare at things that aren't there.
Episode 14
Haru tries to negotiate with a group of cat spirits to stop haunting Master. / Haru's efforts have the opposite effect, and even more cat spirits appear. / The fox spirit agrees to help exorcise all the cat spirits from Master.
Episode 15
Haru explains to Master that the kind of people someone is attracted to when they are young are not exactly the best people to be with when you get older, in reference to a stray dog that is following them. / Haru explains that there is a difference between what is considered a "smart" dog in western and eastern cultures. / Haru keeps confusing the stray husky with something more... respectable.
Episode 16
Master and Haru are playing a very serious game of Shogi. / Master finds a dog translator in an abandoned store and uses it to learn what Haru is really saying to her. / Haru doesn't understand the meaning of a fairytale. Master and Shirayuki explain that he doesn't understand romance the way they do.
Episode 17
Master announces that she has learned from past mistakes and presents Haru with a device that will allow him to walk underwater. / Master catches Shirayuki spying on Haru and tries to help her get closer to Haru. / Master makes a list of things to do before she dies. Some of the items on the list are oddly specific.
Episode 18
Haru finds Master collapsed in front of a famous painting while trying to clear her bucket list. / Master and Haru find the immortal girl again and asks her where to find buried treasure. / The immortal girl shares her conspiracy theory about where a famous lost treasure might be buried.
Episode 19
Various dogs try to seduce Shirayuki, with varying degrees of failure. / Master asks Haru what is the one thing he would want to have on a deserted island. / Haru suffers from prolonged separation from Master when she goes for a quick walk.
