Shu is a typical Japanese boy, but has an unbeatable, optimistic and determined attitude. However, when he sees a mysterious girl with strange eyes named Lala-Ru up on a smokestack, he is soon pulled into a strange desert world. Shu soon discovers the true terrors of war, which includes genocide, brutal torture, hunger, thirst, and child explotation. Now Shu is trying to save Lala-Ru, as well as his hard earned, and often relunctant, new friends from the insane dictator, Hamdo. Whether Shu can possibly accomplish saving those he cares about while still holding up to his values remains to be seen.

Happy-go-lucky boy Shu encounters a mysterious girl, and is drawn into time warp that thrusts him into a hellish future.
Episode 2
Lala-Ru is captured by Abelia’s men, but her magical pendant escapes with Shu at the last moment.
Episode 3
While imprisoned, Shu meets a fragile blue-eyed girl named Sara who found her way to this hellish future under similar circumstances.
Episode 4
The young soldiers have their marching orders: Search the entire ship from top to bottom for Lala-Ru’s missing pendant.
Episode 5
King Hamdo’s frustration reaches a boiling point as the mission to recover the pendant continues to be fruitless.
Episode 6
The young soldiers are now faced with a tour of duty as they leave Hellywood to seek more soldiers.
Episode 7
While in prison, Shu uncovers an unbelievable mystery and the fate of this hellish future suddenly falls squarely in his hands.
Episode 8
Now that Shu is on the run, he must face a whole new set of dangers in the wild desert.
Episode 9
Shu and Lala-ru don’t realize it, but the village they’ve encountered is actually the target of King Hamdo’s revenge.
Episode 10
Shu and Lala-Ru are tentatively welcomed by the villagers of Zari Bars.
Episode 11
Sis, one of the citizens of Zari Bars, finds Sara in the desert, on the verge of death.
Episode 12
Sara warns the people of Zari Bars that an impending attack from Hellywood is eminent.
Episode 13
Nabuca finds himself at a crossroad: Continue killing for the empty promise of going home after the war ends, or listen to his heart and put down his gun.
