Episode 1

Episode 1

A knife robbery takes place at a shop inside in the shopping mall, the suspect CHEUNG SIU-KEUNG is caught by the mall security on the scene. Half a year later, barrister LAU SZ-KIT acts as his defense lawyer during the hearing and successfully proves the innocence of KEUNG. KIT also helps KEUNG to patch up with his wife. As a keen-witted and straightforward barrister, HONG CHI-YAN shares the same law firm with KIT. On the other hand, YAN also successfully seeks justice for her foreign client MICHAEL in court. KIT goes to a game centre with his apprentice, SHUM LOK-YAN to obtain some evidence from the owner regarding an assault case. Suddenly, KIT is attacked by a young man, HO WAI-CHUNG. CHUNG is discontent with KIT for helping his father, HO KING-WAI to get away on the charge of wife abuse hastily three years ago. It gets her mother, FONG SIU-LAN into trouble and lives under the shadow of being maltreated by WAI all day long.… ...

KIT and ON go to meet CHUNG at the custody centre but CHUNG refuses to cooperate with them. In order to complete the power of attorney, KIT asks his best friend as well as the boss of the chamber, CHEUK SIU-HIM to quickly show up and sign the documents. HIM gets back to the law firm and finds that his mother’s best friend, EMILY is sitting inside the conference room. Sensing something wrong, HIM immediately calls KING-YIP to deal with her. KIT mistakes HAU-YU for the new secretary and YAN appears to point out that YU is a new solicitor whom wants to be her apprentice. EMILY hauls HIM into the conference room and gives HIM a chance to see how YAN settles EMILY’s claims agilely. It makes HIM admires YAN greatly. In order to prove his own strength, HIM decides to take over the case that is reputed to be the toughest one among the industry. When LAN meets her son, she suddenly claims that she is the murderer…

Inside the storeroom of the law firm, KIT finds the recording dialogue he had with WAI in the past. It clearly recorded the allusion he made about abusing his wife. ON worries the action of KIT is a breach of the code of secrecy. CHI-CHING goes to the law firm with her boyfriend as to explain the case to their appointed solicitor, HIM. Yet they find that HIM has a flippant attitude. CHUNG is brought to trial and the prosecution refers that he has killed WAI intentionally. KIT summons WAI to appear in court to testify that WAI had the long-term behavior of wife abuse. KIT makes a desperate attempt to play the recording dialogue in court. It makes the judge claim that he will launch a complaint to the Bar Association. On the other hand, CHING is acquitted with the help from HIM. HIM shows YAN a provisional agreement for sale and purchase and he has become the owner of the law firm.… ...

KIT meets his good friend, MAN-HON at the magistracy whom acts as a duty lawyer. Upon receipt of the call-over to appear in court, HON is responsible for the case of CHU WING-FAI whom had sex with an underage girl. When the arraignment procedure is over, HON refuses FAI to act as his lawyer even though HON is poor. When HON visits KIT, KIT convinces him to rent the unit that is vacated after the retirement of his master, PAK-KUN. YU passes the information about the case of having sex with an underage girl to YAN. The young girl, CHEUNG WING-SHAN who involves with the case shows up unexpectedly and begs YAN not to accuse FAI. The case of SHAN is formally brought to trial. The trial judge, HONG HIN-WAH is the father of YAN. He therefore proposes that the defense may request to replace another judge. Yet the defense agrees to continue the hearing. WAH does not want SHAN to be hurt any further and speeds the trial tremendously.… ...

KIT and ON step into court and find Professor LEE, whom they had an argument the night before, sitting among the Disciplinary Tribunal Panel. When Professor Lee points out that KIT has violated his professional conduct, as the master of KIT, KUN suddenly stands up and gives a speech from the public gallery… HON runs into a demonstrator, TAM WAI-TUNG whom bars the way to redress a grievance and being taken away by the police. After HON has contacted TUNG, he decides to help TUNG to appeal regardless of the remuneration. WING-FU visits his mother at the hospital and finds that she has just passed away. FU is furious when seeing that there is no medical equipment and supplies around the bed. HIM helps his father, KAI-HONG to date his mother, MAN-WAI, whom is a famous doctor, to go out for dinner.… ...

ICAC accuses CHOI and HONG of corruption case and they both plead not guilty. HONG does not understand why the female emcee, HELEN has become a tainted witness as to frame him up. HIM decides to investigate HELEN. HON brings along the transcript bill to meet TUNG at a small food store. When his wife knows that it costs to appeal, she strongly opposes TUNG to appeal. HON reads through the transcript and the verdict carefully and finally find the grounds of appeal. TUNG is thrilled to know that there is a hope to reverse the verdict. On the appeal date, HON reaches the High Court confidently. When knowing that SHUI-HING, the judge who is famous for being severe, will handle the case. HON gets worried… HIM finds HELEN’s mother, PING and convinces her to be the witness. HIM finds FISHERMAN and inquires in details about the situation on the day of the draw. HIM is more confident to acquit his father of all charges.… ...

Since there is no new evidence about the case of HONG and CHOI, therefore the judge gives a verdict of guilty to both of them. HIM has to bail his father out and waits for the appeal. WAI suggests to her husband that he can ask KUN to come back to HK as to help him to appeal. HIM has to accept his father’s decision. After reversing the verdict for TUNG, the judge, HING gets a good impression of HON. It makes the other barristers to view him in a new light. After being vindicated, the neighborhood refer to TUNG that he can seek compensation from the government. HON is not willing but still complies to help. KUN returns to HK and help HONG to appeal. Everybody studies the transcripts and statements around the clock. Yet KUN behaves absent-mindedly and no longer performs like he used to be.… ...

The corruption case is over and everybody celebrates at the law firm. HUNG excitedly announces to transfer HIM as a barrister. KIT can tell that HIM has not yet made up his mind. Yet when YAN praises HIM, it makes him determined… TUNG looks for HON to discuss about other possibilities to claim his damage. HON rejects TUNG because of his insatiable greed. MICHAEL is in trouble after getting drunk. YAN bails him out from the police station but refuses to be his defense lawyer. The newspapers widely report a case about a famous actress being raped. YAN is commissioned by The Legal Department to serve as the prosecutor of this case. KIT knows that the rape case involves with an Indian CHIMA and therefore introduces the friend of CHIMA, GAHAL to YU. Before the trial of the case, YAN and YU meet the Indian barrister GILL. They also find that he happens to be the defense lawyer of CHIMA…

It puts GILL in an awkward position when the newspapers widely report that CHIMA has attacked people outside the police station. CHIMA bags GILL to bail him out so that he can visit his grandmother since she is critically ill in the hospital. Ultimately it is rejected by the judge. KIT-LAI, YUK-YING, LAW SUM, WAI-KUEN, KWOK-CHING, BOBO and LEO are required to fulfill their civic responsibility to be the jurors to the court and serve on a jury for the rape case. TING reveals the process of being raped by CHIMA in court. When the first trial hearing is completed, LAI rushes back to look for the husband, KING-SANG in his den. SANG complains that his wife has not prepared dinner. LAI has to call her son, HON and asks for help. KIT refers to HIM the case about MICHAEL being drunk and gets himself into trouble. HIM takes the opportunity to know more about the past of YAN from MICAHEL.… ...

The case is adjourned for deliberation and LAI proposes few questionable points. It makes CHING very dissatisfied about it. LAI explains that she has visited the scene with her son to do some field tests on the spot. She does not understand why no neighbors have heard TING crying for help. Since the jury fails to make a consensus, RAYMOND has to arrange everyone to stay overnight until a conclusion comes up. The next day, LAI remains in doubt about those suspicious points. KUEN cannot hold back his anger and eventually exposes how his daughter was being drugged and raped. He insists that CHIMA is definitely guilty and it intensifies the conflict between the jurors. Before the vote, LAI significantly reminds everyone about the jury duty… YAN suddenly receives a call from TING and notices that she is still badly disturbed. YAN worries about TING and rushes to where she lives in order to comfort TING…

KIT and LOK-YAN go to work and meet YIP bringing a girl, IVY back to the chamber. IVY’s mother, MEI is in a coma due to a traffic accident. IVY finds that the flat her mother has lived for many years does not belong to her. YIP therefore helps IVY to apply for adverse possession on behalf of MEI. KIT bumps into YAN at the comic house. While they are having lunch together, YAN finds that a woman keeps staring at her. The next day YAN meets that lady, KUEN again and she creates a big scene at the chamber. Eventually, it turns out that KUEN is the mother of KIT… MICHAEL will be on trial soon and he hopes that YAN can appear in court to support him. A friend of HIM, KEI is arrested by the police to accuse him of burglary. HIM successfully makes YAN show her interest in the case. KIT dines out with his relative, CHEONG whose father has just passed away. KIT is really surprised when CHEONG gives him his father’s will.

After his investigation, HON finds that KIT may be the brother of IVY and he exposes the matter to all the colleagues at the chamber. KIT receives a call from IVY. He gets home and finds a cassette tape, which has recorded a piece of his father’s solo singing to a guitar accompaniment, for IVY. IVY informs KIT that MEI has regained her consciousness and indicates that her mother wants to see him. After talking to KEI, YAN finally agrees to handle his case. HIM gets to know from the police data that some renovations are taken place nearby the scene of the burglary case. YAN and HIM finally get some clues when they investigate accordingly. After the case is settled, HIM decides to go after YAN and helplessly being rejected. IVY and MEI are shocked when KIT is willing to give up the ownership of his premises. When KUEN knows about it, she is furious and goes alone to confront MEI at her home.… ...

MEI is seriously injured from falling down the building. KIT learns from the police that a few people have eye-witnessed KUEN pushing MEI over. Yet KUEN strongly censures MEI of framing her up. KIT is totally confused and anaesthetizes himself with work. KUEN is charged with murder soon and keeps calling KIT up. KIT plucks up his courage to ask YAN to take up his mother’s litigation on his behalf. Yet YAN is unable to offer her help. MEI regains her consciousness and gives statements to the police to point out that she was pushed over by KUEN. HIM recommends barrister, LUNG SHIU-KWAN to KIT for taking up the litigation of KUEN’s case. When KUEN sees that only ON and KWAN show up, she is angry and deeply grieved. HIM bumps into her ex-lover, CINDY at a bar. They are really happy when talking about the past.… ...

When the case of KUEN is brought to trial, a few witnesses point out that they have seen KUEN and MEI had an argument. Knowing that it is an adverse situation, KIT tries to seek for some beneficial evidence for KUEN. KIT goes back to MEI’s home and requests to talk with her alone. KIT takes the opportunity to persuade MEI to change her mind for not suing KUEN. MEI suddenly changes her testimony in court so that KUEN is acquitted. On the contrary, KUEN wants to sue MEI for murder. Regarding the case that EMILY has hit her Filipino maid, HON tries to prod her into an out-of-court settlement. Yet EMILY refuses to give in. All the colleagues show their sympathy to HON when he is being wilfully ordered about by EMILY. HON finally understands that he is being used by EMILY and has a fight with her. HON accidentally hurts EMILY and she wants to sue him. When IVY and YIP get home, they find that MEI has committed suicide.… ...

Episode 15

Episode 15

After reading the suicide note from her mother, IVY is mortally grieved. In order to take care of IVY, YIP temporarily moves to live with her. However, IVY claims that she wants to get a lawyer to sue KEUN for murdering her mother. YAN and HON ask EMILY to the chamber to have a reconciliation talk. Yet EMILY greedily demands two million as compensation. KIT reads through her mind and decides to help his best friend for justice. YIP cannot find IVY and in fact she has brought alone a tin of red paint to the chamber as to revenge on KIT. At MEI’s funeral, IVY questions KIT again about the conversation he had with her mother alone. KIT cannot hold back and tells the truth. HIM informs HON that EMILY has withdrawn her charges and HON is overjoyed to hear the good news. KUEN encounters a rioter on the street and being hit by an aerial bomb. Her entire body is covered with red paint.

IVY is invited by the police to investigate the case about KUEN being attacked with a bomb filled with red paint. YIP asks CHOW to change his statement in the hope of getting IVY off the hook. Knowing that it is a serious issue, CHOW discusses with KIT and HIM about it. The police formally charge IVY and KIT decides to act as her defense lawyer. In order to help IVY, he asks HON to get KEUN to compose a plea letter… ON and YIM encounter two young men fighting in the street. Luckily TAM, whom is a good friend of ON as well as a policeman, appears to stop the fight. Knowing that YU and KIT work together closely, LOK-YAN asks YU to propose to KIT for exchanging the trainee solicitors with YAN so that he gets a chance to be YAN’s apprentice. After sending CINDY back home, HIM hears the sound of gunshot. HIM finds that a man raises his gun while chasing after a youth.… ...

Being seen by the murderer and his gang, HIM is frightened and makes a dash for it. When HIM meets a policeman, HIM informs CHAK that he is being run after to kill. Unexpectedly, CHAK claims that the man is his colleague TURKEY SIR. HIM gives his statement at the police station and makes a complaint to the superior of TURKEY SIR, KWOK-CHU. HIM complains against the police that no caution had been given to the suspect before he was shot. CHU implies HIM to change his statement but HIM rejects him firmly. When HIM leaves, he sees the man, CHI-NAM whom involves in the same case is being arrested and illegally tortured. ON helps HIM to find out the statement that NAM has given and HIM thinks that the police have made NAM change his statement. ON advises HIM not to investigate the case anymore but HIM insists to stand for justice. CHOW MAN has a fight with her husband, SIU FOOK in the street.… ...

The police find the weapon that NAM has left behind at HIM’s office. NAM indicates to the police that HIM teaches him to hide away the weapon and it makes HIM speechless. KIT waits for FOOK outside the court. Unexpectedly, FOOK quietly takes his two kids away from MAN’s home and brings them to court. KIT frankly declares that it is going to raise the difficulties over the custody. CAT visits NAM at the detention centre and KIT gets some vital clues from her. Also, ON finds out that a gangster, BROTHER TSAU is related to the case. While investigating at Temple Street, ON is suddenly being hijacked by some bruisers with knives. Ever since HIM has rescued ON from the hot pot restaurant, HIM decides not to go any further about investigating the case of the policeman being killed. Seeing that HIM wants to give up because of the criminal syndicate, YAN adheres to pursue the truth.… ...

After being threatened by SHING, HIM is so scared that he immediately goes to the police station to change his statement. Yet YAN still insists on finding out the truth. TING proposes to CHU the idea of killing YAN. CHU tries to get BROTHER TSAU to kill YAN but there is an argument arises among them regarding the division of the spoils. HIM sends YAN back home and when YAN is alone outside the door, she discovers a sign of the door lock has been pried open. When FOOK visits his two children, he finds that MAN and SAM are having an affair… KIT advises FOOK to explain the cause of divorce to the welfare officer but FOOK does not want to expose the family scandal. YAN and KIT hold a meeting on behalf of MAN and FOOK regarding their divorce case. Since KIT does not disclose the infidelity of MAN, both parties have to end up in court. At this time, YAN receives a call from MAN’s daughter.… ...

KIT becomes the defense lawyer of FOOK. However, FOOK is denied bail due to the seriousness of the case. Seeing the strange behavior of FOOK, YAN suspects that he has hidden psychosis. While HIM is dining out with YAN and the other people, CINDY shows up and gets extremely entangled with HIM… The assessment of the government psychiatrist shows that FOOK has no mental illness. KIT decides to get another professional authority doctor, DR LEE to give further evaluation. Subsequently, it surprises everyone when DR LEE points out in court that KIT and YAN has abetted the defendant. KIT feels that he has got YAN into trouble. HIM eventually proposes to break up with CINDY but she turns around to threaten HIM with her life in order to coerce HIM into maintaining the relationship. While YAN and YU are driving, their car is in collision with a minivan. A few bruisers put the blame on YAN and ask for a huge compensation.… ...

YAN is worried since her accountant has not done the declaration for her. KIT introduces his friend whom is an accountant to help her out. YAN recognizes LOK-MAN is the man who courageously scared away the rascals the other day. HON meets the client, HUNG ZHANG whom is charged by the police for visiting the prostitute. HON believes that ZHANG is innocent and decides to help him. MAN invites YAN to go for horse riding and YAN brings YU along. When YAN receives a bouquet from MAN, she asks YU to drop a hint to MAN as to reject his courtship. HON has to be in court for the case of ZHANG and meets the police officer, MIU-YEE whom is going to give her evidence in court. KIT bumps into YAN in the lift after work and the lift suddenly falls rapidly. KIT tries to comfort YAN and cannot help kissing her. MAN seizes a chance to bring YU to Zhuhai and YU feels so sweet deep down.… ...

After work, YU rushes to meet her brother, REX at the tennis court. Seeing that MAN is being very nice to REX, YU feels that she can entrust her life to MAN. MAN suddenly receives a call from LUI CHUN-TING. It turns out that TING is seriously ill in the hospital and wants to see MAN. After TING has passed away, the subordinates of his gang, KWOK-KAN and AUYEUNG CHEONG keep bickering about the funeral arrangements. YEE arrests MAN at his home. MAN is accused of being related to a murder case that the ringleader of a triad gang, SHISHA LO is being killed. YU gets KIT to act as the defense lawyer and MAN denies involvement in the murder case. MAN indicates that he has secretly recorded the dialogue between TING and KAN. HON is responsible for the prosecution of the murder case about SHISHA being killed. When HON gets the information from the police station, he finds that YEE is the police officer he has to work with.… ...

YU is greatly disappointed with what MAN has done. In order to save the relationship, MAN proposes to leave HK with YU. KIT and YAN are disappointed when LOK-YAN divulges the reconciliation between YU and MAN. CHEONG threatens MAN for helping him with the money laundering. When YEE is doing her morning exercise, she bumps into HON and they start going against each other again. YEE courageously saves HON while he is being robbed at the mountain road. In order to get rid of CHEONG, MAN has booked the air tickets and plans to run away with YU. HON advises YU not to associate with MAN anymore since MAN may have some illegal deals with CHEONG. YU makes an excuse to go to MAN’s home and really finds something from his computer. YU copies the documents with a memory stick and brings it home. Overhearing the telephone conversation between MAN and CHEONG, YU knows that MAN has hidden something important inside the shopping locker.… ...

Everybody is heartbroken to see REX collect the remains of YU at the hospital. When KIT attends the funeral of YU, he is angry to see that REX acts upon whatever MAN says. ON and HIM look for the driver, WAI-KAN whom has killed YU in the hope of getting some clues. Yet their effort is in vain. CHEONG wants MAN to help him again but MAN refuses to get involved in the turf war. Yet CHEONG still coerces MAN into compliance. HON and YEE are being attacked by some bruisers while they are dining out. HON finds that YEE has dropped her gun during the fight. HON gets a fright and catches up with YEE to return her the gun. YEE uses the gun to scare the bruisers away. Whilst cleaning up YU’s belongings, MAN is shocked to find that YU has saved the stolen documents in a memory stick. LOK-YAN finds some obscure documents from YU’s memory stick and hands it to KIT. While walking in the street, KIT and HIM are being attacked.… ...

The subordinates of CHEONG kidnap KIT and HIM to a warehouse. CHEONG sends another gang to mess up the chamber in order to destroy the evidence. KIT and HIM are being tied. When they struggle to escape; meanwhile, MAN appears unexpectedly… While both of them are escaping, they meet the subordinates of CHEONG at the backdoor of the warehouse. Unfortunately HIM is stabbed with a knife. During the critical juncture, SIR ZHAI, YEE and the police rush there. A police officer informs HON that YEE is being shot. HON is so worried that he bursts into tears. It makes everybody so worried when HIM is seriously injured and being sent to the intensive care… MAN is finally arrested but he refuses to give his statements. MAN wants to see KIT and starts bargaining with YEE in order to be exonerated. Everybody does not have a clue how to deal with the matter… HON and YEE go to a bar for celebration and speak their mind to each other.… ...
