The runners steal a floating barge and ride up river. August's chase takes him into Indian territory. Hawkes finds himself working with a posse to catch runaways within the area.

The runners take shelter in Indian territory. James is put to work in the cotton field. Elizabeth discovers Boo alone after she was separated from her father. August learns his wife broke out of the Asylum.

Episode 8

Rosalee and Cato pose as free folks to get medicine after Noah got shot, while still being hunted by August and Jeremiah's posse. Sam is recaptured and returned to the plantation. Macon looks to rally his supporters.

Rosalee is captured and held at the smokehouse, prompting Noah and Cato to rescue her. John learns of Elizabeth's reckless actions involving Kyle.
