In 1967, the CIA recruited Felix Rodríguez, one of its former agents, to train and head a team to track down the Marxist guerilla, who was intent on overthrowing the Bolivian government. Following Guevara's capture, Rodríguez interrogated him, but was unable to prevent an order to execute the man who had earlier been a major force in the Cuban revolution.
