A Mind to Kill is a police detective series set in Wales, UK. It was developed from a 1991 pilot which starred Philip Madoc as DCI Bain, and Hywel Bennett. The series ran from 1994 to 2004 and first aired as Yr Heliwr on S4C, the Welsh language TV channel, before being broadcast on the UK Network channel, Channel 5. The series was filmed in English and in Welsh, with each scene being shot first in one language and then in the other. It has since been dubbed into more than a dozen languages and shown all over the world. The 21 episodes have been divided into 3 series which are now available on DVD. The pilot episode is also available on DVD.
Episode 1
DCI Bain is called in to investigate the murder of a prostitute, but the case takes on a personal note when one of his childhood friends turns out to be the prime suspect.
Episode 2
Bain and the team are searching for a young boy who witnessed the murder of his mother while on a caravan holiday, but the killer is looking for him as well.
Episode 3
Several sexually motivated murders have occurred in a seemingly peaceful farming community, but when DCI Bain tries to hunt down the killer, he encounters a secret subculture within the village and suspects that there may be an outside international connection as well.
Episode 4
An demented escapee from prison who is seeking justice for the murder of his brother, takes DCI Bain hostage at a remote cabin.
Episode 5
Following a particularly vicious murder attempt, DCI Bain comes into contact with a small religious cult, and he soon comes to the conclusion that the daughter of the intended victim may have some important knowledge about the attack.
Episode 6
DCI Bain is called in to investigate the possibility that a famous concert pianist may have murdered her husband.
