The Dark Island is a six-part British television miniseries, produced by Gerard Glaister for the BBC. It premièred on 8 July 1962. It was later adapted for radio, which was transmitted in 1969. It was set on the Outer Hebridean island of Benbecula, though the majority of the series was filmed on South Uist.

Episode 1

A strange 'torpedo' is found on the Atlantic shore of a lonely island in the Outer Hebrides, and in the attempt to defuse it a surprising discovery is made.

Episode 2

The torpedo turned out to be a spy kit with an international flavour. A Finnish passport, British and Swedish money, U.S. services pattern revolvers and East German binoculars. Most mysterious of all was a fragment of sheet music which proved to be from a Hebridean lilt.
